A music hall with theaters inside, outside, and on the roof

A music hall with theaters inside, outside, and on the roof. Full image set, CGI film, and the whole park landscape recreated.

We had the pleasure of collaborating with the incredible team at MVRDV to create the images and film for their proposal in the Chungnam Music Hall competition in South Korea. We produced the full image set and the CGI movie, and we recreated the entire context of the project, in particular the whole landscape of parks surrounding the area, so that every frame could place the architecture in a believable, living environment.

The visionary project is designed as a cultural landmark, offering multiple concert halls and versatile multi purpose spaces that cater to a wide range of artistic performances and events. The architectural concept seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor experiences, creating a dynamic and immersive environment for visitors in every season.

Fallen leaves

With MVRDV we created the images and film for the Chungnam Music Hall competition, recreating the entire park landscape so every frame sits in a living environment.

01 Creative Direction

Thirty cameras behind every image

Starry sky

As in all our competition work, the final views are only the visible tip of a much larger process. We produced a great number of sketches for this project, and behind every final image delivered there are around thirty cameras explored and evaluated inside the model, before our selection and creative direction narrows them down to the one that tells the project best.

The final views are the tip of a larger process: around thirty cameras explored per image before our creative direction narrows them to the one that tells it best.

It is a deliberate discipline: by the time a frame reaches the jury, it has already won an internal competition of its own. That is where the unexpected points of view come from, the ones our clients tell us they would never have imagined.

02 The Spaces

Theaters inside, outside, and on the roof

Theater

The space was particularly complex: a sequence of theaters that live inside the building, outside it, and above it, on the roof itself. We produced a very wide image set to cover that richness, and we used the film to narrate the concept and all the uses of this fantastic multifunctional project.

The space is complex: theaters inside the building, outside it, and on the roof. A very wide image set plus a film to narrate the concept and its uses.

The film moves through the building the way a visitor would, from the concert halls to the open air stages, showing how one structure can host radically different performances and gatherings without ever losing its identity.

03 The Seasons

A landscape that changes the program

Warm winter

Surrounding the music hall is a breathtaking park filled with cherry trees and vibrant seasonal flowers, a landscape we recreated in full. The park is not a backdrop: depending on the season and the environment, the project varies its possibilities of use and the kind of cultural event it can host, and our images explore exactly that.

A park of cherry trees and seasonal flowers surrounds the hall, recreated in full; depending on the season the project changes its uses and events.

Spring blossoms, warm winters, starry nights: each atmosphere shows a different way of living the building, and together they make the case for a hub of creativity, community engagement, and cultural expression in deep harmony with its surroundings.
